Approx. Capacity - 6.7 litres, so one of the heftiest ones, this versatile casserole dish/cocotte/French oven.
Ideal for entertaining and my overall favourite recipe in this size is:-
'Greek Stifatho', pages 90/91, from Claudia Roden's Simple Mediterranean Cookery, serving 6-8 comfortably.
Or....to show the true versatility of this brilliant 'casserole' dish, you could try what my best friend makes:-
bazaar-sized cakes, to aid local charity funds and he has just turned out the most magnificent looking Celebration Cake....now waiting to be iced!
Sturdily boxed, with full use and care instructions supplied.
Easy to use and clean by hand, although some soaking and a rub with a plastic brush inside and out, may be required for the more stubborn baked-on food remains.
Dishwasher safe, if it fits in, because this is BIG!

If you cannot visualise 28 centimetres, mark it out with a ruler to understand just how big this pot is. Being cast iron, it is very heavy when empty. Having a 6.7 litre capacity, it is extremely heavy when full. It takes up a lot of cupboard space and you only need it if you are feeding a multitude.

We bought two different size Le Creuset pans. Well, it is well known classic in the kitchen, but only if we knew how it is inconvenient to cook in such heavy pans... You get tired moving these pans. I do not find any difference in quality when we cook in much lighter or cheaper pans. Yes, it cooks good, but you can find similar quality for much less price. At the same time, it is a classic collection item. So, if you like collecting kitchenware, go for it, but if you look after convenience and quality, you had better give it a miss.
